REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
The applicant wishing to apply for this job must meet the following qualifications;
- Grade 12 essential.
- Must have experience in health and safety standards and management.
- Must have minimum 2-3 years’ experience in a supervisory role within a hotel, lodge, or hospital laundry environment.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:
The applicant must have the following skills and competences
- Must have computer literacy (MS Office),
- Must have strong organizational skills, and
- Must have sound interpersonal skills.
- Must have ability to work under pressure, attention to detail, and physical stamina to perform duties.
- Must have understanding of linen construction and infection control protocols.
- Must have understand cleaning principles and knowledge of company policies and procedures.
- Must have strong people skills.
- Must have strong communication skills.
- Must be able to work independently and under pressure.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The successful candidate will have to implement the following duties but not limited to:
- To ensure work schedules/job cards are in place for each position and relevant to site.
- To ensure consistently high service standards are maintained for all services in scope with regular inspections.
- To ensure that staff are correctly and smartly dressed displaying a name badge.
- Highlight to sites the importance of upholding the company image at all times.
- To ensure that cleaning methodology are strictly adhered to in line with company policies, quality programmes and legislation.
- Managing company assets by performing monthly spot checks on high value items.
- When checking assets ensure that equipment is kept in a good condition and repaired and serviced when required.
- To do daily checks and follow-ups.
- To report maintenance and safety concerns to the manager on a day to day bases.
- To maintain personal health, hygiene and professional appearance.
- Responding to management request timeously and providing necessary action required.
- Responsible to regularly keep line management informed of pertinent issues relating to the unit
- To ensure that all OHS Act (Occupational Health and Safety) requirements are adhered to for site specific requirements in line with company policies, quality programmes and legislation.
- To maintain a high standard of morale and motivation through good communication skills.
- May be required to assist with any other duties that may be outside scope of responsibility.
- To lead and motivate laundry staff. Conduct regular meetings with the Bidvest laundry staff
- To conduct regular inspections of wards, theater, emergency department, and the laundry facility to ensure quality standards are met.
- To oversee the collection, sorting, washing, drying, ironing, folding, and distribution of linens, towels and curtains. Oversee cleaning of laundry area
- To enforce health and safety protocols (OHS), including the use of PPE and infection control standards.
- To generate daily/weekly and monthly reports
